Life is good when you have grandchildren!

Mother and daughter Posted by Hello

There is nothing like being a grandparent. We had such a wonderful trip to Black Widow country. It went by too fast. Elizabeth is "mighty like a rose". And Eamon is just a real fun person to be with........something new and cute every minute. He keeps me laughing. He is a very empathetic little boy and I think senses others feelings very well. The makings of a GREAT husband. He gets so upset when Elizabeth cries. It just breaks my heart. Once when I was holding Elizabeth she started crying. He looked at her and his little lip curled down and he started to cry too. He looked so upset and then looked at me and said in a very despairing tiny little teary voice, "I just want to go to the basement"! ????????? Kara can't figure that one out. He has only seen the basement once!!

Our first day there we all walked to the nearby retro-deli for an absolutely delicious lunch. Little Lizzie slept through the whole thing. We went back home and relaxed and I held Elizabeth and held her and held her and held her and held her and probably spoiled her so very much. We went out to dinner that night to a REAL restaurant. We all took turns walking Elizabeth outside as she didn't seem to enjoy eating out as much as we did.

Sunday we had a great trip to the Botanical Gardens. Oh how lovely it was. So gorgeous. And so much fun. The most fun was watching Eamon. He really loved the little garden train........two model trains running around a large, beautifully landscaped garden with tunnels and bridges and streams and flowers. This is something that Megan's father would die for! Went back home and bought some steaks to grill out. Sean is a master griller like his father and they were done to perfection.

On Monday morning we feasted our eyes on the little Madden kids until we had to leave for our plane. Oh did I hate to leave them. Elizabeth is so good and quiet and sweet and dainty and smells so yummy. Eamon is just plain fun to be with. Kara said that she couldn't have a better father for her children than Sean. He is really good with them.

Flight out was pretty bumpy as we had to fly around lots of thunder storms but the reward was seeing the most gorgeous rainbow right outside the airplane window. It was so big and beautiful, a perfect arch. Weather in Albuquerqe was great. Nice and warm and sunny. But I have now come home to a messy house and a lawn that needs mowing and a garden that needs planting and no time to do it. But summer vacatin is coming soon.
This weekend Eamon is visiting with Stacey and Brett and Megan will be coming. I will post some pictures of our trip in the gallery when I have more time. They take so long to load.

Wish I were back in Albuquerque.........................!

Packing!!

We are all packed and ready to set off on our trip to visit the little Madden family tomorrow. I can't wait to see them. It will also feel good to be someplace where there is sun and warmth. Ahhhhhhhhh! It's been a long time. I will take lots of pictures of the little people (Eamon and Elizabeth) and post them in my gallery when I get back. I hope someone will look at them! Our stay will be much too short.
Check this out: http://www.jenckesfolks.com/blogger/images/5-25-05-pinata.jpg .....a pinata at Megan's birthday party. This is one of the funniest pictures I have seen of my offspring. My son is now making a living as a pinata. OUCH! I would love to know who the creative person was who made that pinata. I would also like to know how much stuff was in that thing and what it was. There could be a whole new career there.
Off to bed. Work tomorrow and then off to the land of sun. I am leaving so many things undone here in the house but what the heck. It will all be here when I come back.

Still Brrrrrr.............

Not much to say except it is too d _ _ _ cold. It is worse today than yesterday. Now we are in the middle of a nor'easter with wind and rain. The prediction is for this to continue right through the holiday weekend. I have never seen it like this in May...EVER. I wish I had never taken my down comforter off our bed last month. I wish we still had the wood stove going. I wish I had made a pot of hot homemade chicken soup for dinner. I am glad I didn't put away my winter clothes. I wonder if we could still get another snow day in school before May is out?? Sure feels like it.

This is a good night to take a nice hot shower and snuggle under my pile of blankets with a good book and that is just what I am going to do!!

Brrrrrrrrrr........

What in the heck is it with this weather? The 3rd coldest spring we have ever had. It didn't even get out of the 50's today. And it is going to be even colder and damper tomorrow and Wednesday. I don't like this one bit. I usually have my garden in by now and we don't even have it tilled yet. This is not a good sign. The 90 degree weather in Albuquerque is going to look very good on our visit there.

Still working on that hellish attic. It is pretty nasty up there. Ugh. Gross tacky Christmas decorations that I haven't used in years and will probably never use and I don't think anyone else would want them either, except as a joke. It feels really really really really good to throw things out. I wish I had more time. But summer is coming and I will have days and days and days!! Oh sweet heaven.

Finally figured out how to upload pics to my gallery. Check them out!! We'll have more to add after our trip. We will try to get some good pictures of the newest little Madden.

Here comes Monday.........

There never seem to be enough hours in the weekend to get everything done. Spent lots of time in the attic today just cleaning out junk. Why oh why have I kept all this stuff? Kara and Brett's rock collection...why do we need that? I threw all the pretty rocks into the stream so all the little grandchildren can go rock hunting someday and bring them all back to their Mommy and Daddy's houses for them to store in THEIR attic!
Went down to Glastonbury this afternoon to fix Mom's computer. Spent several hours there and after all of Paul's hard work he realized she needs more memory, which of course he hadn't brought with him. So.....another trip to Glastonbury is in the stars for Paul.
And now it is time for the season finale of Desperate Housewives. Must not miss this............... HAVE TO GO WATCH IT!

One day closer to Monday...............

Only one more day left of this weekend and I feel like I'm spinning my wheels! Too much to do and not enough time to do it. Funny weather today. Sometimes it would be sunny and warm and then quickly change to black clouds, wind and brrrrrrr, then back to sunny and warm and then showers. I did get my lawn mowed..finally, but still need to find time to gather stuff to take to the tag sale. Wonder if I will ever get that done??
The lilacs are out so I picked some for the gathering room table. Heavenly fragrance. When we went for our walk tonight the air was just filled with that lucious smell.
Watched a very old movie tonight...Gaslight. Old but oh so good.
Just a quiet day in Borington today. Tomorrow I WILL tackle that tag sale project and maybe we'll take a trip to my mother's to minister to her ailing computer.
Oh......and HAPPY BIRTHDAY....MEEEEEEGAN! Hope you had a good one. I'm sure tt9rb was good to you.

Friday's here.......!

Friday is finally here.....the best day of the week. The anticipation of two whole days off is what makes it so good. We drove to the Pub in Norfolk (where Kara and Sean had their honeymoon dinner)for dinner tonight. Beautiful evening for a drive. I had a great dinner of penne pasta with asparagus and lemon sauce. Paul chose a beer out of their list of 100+ beers. He chose a German beer called Franziskaner. He said it was the best he has ever had. Good enough that he wants to order a whole case of it! After dinner we drove to TJ Maxx for some real beer glasses. Real class! While we were eating dinner I told Paul we were lucky to live where we do because people from the city pay a million+ to build a second home here. We do it on a lot less and are still able to enjoy all the lovely scenery.
Lee Kellogg school is having a tag sale in a couple of weeks. This weekend I hink I will work on gathering all the junk that has been taking up space in my house for the past 28 years and deliver it to their doorstep. They said they are looking for donations. Boy will they be sorry they ever said that when they see us coming.

Little Grammie with her favorite little grandboy

Okay.......My techno wizard son just set my up with this new blog. I'm really not sure what I am doing yet. Kind of experimenting. I have successfully posted a picture. Yay! Now I am trying to add a little blog to it. We shall see. Busy day at work today. Busy day at home. Shopping after work. Then home to make pasta. Whole wheat pasta for Paul and regular stuff for me. Paul's mother is here. We all went for a long walk after dinner...to the university and back. The other night when Paul and I went walking up there we heard a mew mew mew.... a LOUD mew mew mew. And there was the sweetest little kitten sitting on the stone wall. Paul tried to get it but it hissed at him. Smart cat. He went back later and enticed it into a cage with some food. Is over at the office now and has had a personality change. No more hissing. Purrs alot and is very lovable. Anyone want a little kitty?????
